Recent world events have undermined the US dollar’s dominance and its status as an indisputable safe haven. We may be witnessing the beginning of a paradigm shift in global currencies. In this new world, the US dollar’s stronghold remains, yet it may be gradually eroded away and complemented by other currencies and alternative assets. In this CIO Series, we will speak with Mr. Suan Teck Kin, Economist and Head of Research at UOB, about the so-called “de-dollarization” trend and what it could mean for investors like you.

Suan Teck Kin is Executive Director and Head of Research at UOB, responsible for global economics and markets research. He joined the bank as an economist in 2006, and has decades of experience in macroeconomic and equity research. Prior to UOB, Teck Kin held various positions in equity and credit analysis in other financial institutions in Singapore, Canada and Taiwan. Teck Kin graduated with a Master's degree in economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Simon Fraser University, Canada. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
